Thank you to all of you who so generously donated to Save the Lake. We had a tremendous event cooking over 95 pickerel dinners, raising $4,895 in our auction alone, selling over $2,000 in merchandise and receiving numerous donations to the Save the Lake Fund. As we tally our numbers we will let you know how we did.
Organized by the Gimli Yacht Club and the Kiwanis Club of Gimli & District, this family-friendly fundraising event features education, fun and food – all in support of a healthy Lake Winnipeg.
We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a socially distant Save the Lake Fundraiser on June 27th, 2021. Out of safety and concern for our GYC members, the Kiwanis, and the general public, we have created a virtual festival.
We will have merchandise, auction items, and our Fish Fry tickets all available online. The Fish Fry meals will be sold in 15 minute increments between 11:00am to 3:00pm to avoid lines. The meals will be available for pick up at the Kiwanis mobile kitchen in the front yard of the Gimli Yacht Club at your designated time. Unfortunately, they will have to be eaten offsite to ensure social distancing.
The auction will be open on June 15th and close at 3:00pm on June 27th. We have over 25 great auction items for you to bid on. Click the link and start bidding. We have a limited supply of great merchandise. Don’t delay as we will not be reordering our items.
The event has raised over $12,000 to promote the health of Lake Winnipeg, and it is committed to supporting The Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium and The Lake Winnipeg Foundation. Lake Winnipeg needs our voices to be heard. Hope to see you online to support this great cause.
On behalf of the Gimli Yacht Club, we so very much appreciate all who choose to join in on the fun. We all love Lake Winnipeg and value the efforts being made to understand this amazing resource, and ensure its sustainability. I’d like to thank all of our volunteers, including Gimli Yacht Club members as well as our partners at Kiwanis of Gimli, for helping to make this year’s event a success. See you on Sunday!
